World Trade Center
From September 11 Memories
The World Trade Center was a complex of large office buildings in southwestern New York City which occupied an irregularly shaped block bounded by Vesey Street, Church Street, Liberty Street, and the West Side Highway. The 110-storied Twin Towers impacted by American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 were only two of seven numbered buildings comprising the Center; the collapse of the Twin Towers due to melting of their iron trusses by burning jet fuel also destroyed several other buildings nearby.
