Waleed Iskandar

Waleed J. Iskandar (August 25, 1967-September 11, 2001) was traveling to Los Angeles to visit his family when his plane (American Airlines Flight 11) was hijacked and crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. He was engaged to Nicolette Cavaleros and planned to wed in July 2002.
Waleed came to the United States in 1984 to attend Stanford University. In 1988, he earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Computer Science; he earned his M.S. in 1989. In 1993, he earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was designated a Baker Scholar. Following his death, scholarships were founded in his name at both schools.
He died at the age of 34 after visiting his brother in Sudbury, Massachusetts. He was traveling to visit his parents, sister, and relatives in Northridge, California.
Waleed is survived by his parents, Joseph and Samia; his fiancée, Nicolette Cavaleros; his sister, May Marconet; his brother, Sany; and six nephews and nieces.
