Sandra Bradshaw
From September 11 Memories
Sandra Bradshaw was a flight attendant on United Airlines Flight 93.
She was born and raised in Climax, North Carolina and graduated from Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur, North Carolina. Following her younger sister, Sandra trained to become a flight attendant. She lived in Greensboro with her husband, a U.S. Airways pilot and her children while working part-time for United Airlines.
Bradshaw died at age 38 in the crash of United Airlines flight 93 in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. She was able to contact her husband during the hijacking and reported that the crew and passengers were planning to fight the hijackers. Her last words were "We're all running to first class, I've got to go. Bye".
Such instinctive actions by flight attendants were a notable feature of the attacks that day. The role of attendants in flight security has been recognized and expanded as a result.
She was survived by her husband, Phil; daughter, Alexandria, 2; son, Nathan, 1; step-daughter, Shenan 16; and other family.
Tributes
Sandy - Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and say a prayer for your eternal rest and the comfort of your family. I so treasure the fun trips we flew together when I was based in EWR and how you kept me enthusiastic and blessidly in shape! You were always the first one to head to the workout room.
What an inspiration.
I miss you my friend. Crystal Brown
