Neil Dollard, age 28, born Staten Island, New York, was a victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald Securities. Dollard lived in Hoboken, New Jersey. He was in or at the building on the morning of the attack.

Neil was my upstairs neighbor. He was a good man. Whenever I am reminded of that terrible day, I always wonder if, for just that one day while hearing him come downstairs at 6:30 a.m., I could've just grabbed him and said that today he was going to be late for work whether he liked it or not -- for no reason. But, alas, I am neither psychic nor spontaneously crazy.

Every year on Sept. 11, I contemplate at his memorial outside our building in Hoboken. He is the human connection I have to the event, thinking about how he was only just going to work.
