From September 11 Memories
Joanne Marie Ahladiotis was born on June 10, 1974 in Rocky Point, New York to Eleni and Miltiadis Ahladiotis.
She was a Greek American. She resided in Forest Hills, Queens. She had big brown eyes and dark thick hair and the most amazing dimples in the world. She stood about 5'2 and weighed 110 pounds. Joanne was well known for her radiant smile. Her smile can brighten the room and make everyone feel better. Joanne was always smiling. She was a very positive person and was a great inspiration to everyone she met.
Joanne was a very caring person and was a role model to her cousin Roula Galanakis. They shared a passion for shopping, talking a mile a minute, cooking and they both were really caring to everyone and they liked to try new recipes. She dressed impeccably and had her nails done once a week.
Joanne worked as a manager for the financial services company for eSpeed. She was a graduate of the class of 1992, she was regarded as a well-rounded and dynamic person. Her interests were diverse, ranging from the study of Modern Greek and playing on the field hockey team to performing in the high school musical and working on the school's yearbook.
She visited her grandmother every two years. Whenever Joanne would visit her grandmother in Greek she would go sunbathing. The last time Joanne seen her grandmother. Her grandmother started crying because she thought she would never see Joanne again because of her aging. They both started crying and Joanne said:
"Yia-Yia Dont Cry...I will be back soon"
Unfortunately that word was broken on September 11th.
She was only twenty-seven years old when she perished in the World Trade Center disaster. Joanne was attending a 7 a.m. meeting on the 104th of the North Tower. She would always go to work at 9 a.m. but went to work two hours early on September 11th for a meeting. A week before her death she invited her parents to Las Vegas to accompany her on a business trip.
Joanne is survived by her parents, Miltiadis and Eleni, her sister Effie, and several aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the New York area, the United States, Canada and Greece. May her memory be eternal!
