Eric Allen was born January 7, 1957.

He graduated Brooklyn's Nazareth Regional High School in June 1975. During his high school years, Eric was on the swim team as a sophomore, ran track all four years, and played french horn in the school band.

While in high school, Eric lived with his grandfather above the grandfather’s hardware store at 213 Schenectady Avenue in Brooklyn.

Eric eventually settled in Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge neighborhood.

In the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), Eric held the rank of Firefighter.

His last assignment was at Squad 18 located at 132 West 10th St, New York, NY 10019. This is quoted from FDNY Squad 18’s website:

"Eric Allen came from Engine 217 Bed-Stuy Brooklyn via Squad 288 in Queens. He never lost his true roots as an Engine man. Small in stature, huge in heart ."Stay low and go." He had no choice with staying low, but go he did. Eric was our resident Jack-of-All-Trades. The beginning and end of each tour, Eric would carry all of his 5 gallon buckets in and out of the Firehouse on West 10th Street. We kidded him that he had broad shoulders due to this personal exercise program of his. He was never happier than when he was talking about his wife Kiki, and the birth of their daughter three years ago. Always helping out someone no matter what needed to be done, Eric was a true friend to all." - Bob Stude, FDNY Ret., Squad 18 [1]

A street renaming for Eric was held on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 71st Street and Ridge Avenue, Brooklyn.

Eric is survived by his wife Kiki (Angelica) and their daughter Kathleen.

Eric was laid to rest on September 20, 2001. At the time of his death, he was 44 years old.
