Ong was a flight attendant abord American Airlines Flight 11, the first plane to crash into the World Trade Center on Spetember 11, 2001. She was on the phone during the hijacking with flight controllers in Virgina and Texas at the rear end of the plane.

She heroically called Vanessa Minter at American Airlines Reservation Desk from a flight phone while on board the flight.
